Who Should Use SPAS Gen. 2 tourniquet?

Military and law-enforcement
The tourniquet is now a mandatory piece of equipment for every soldier or officer. It is a standard component of tactical first aid kits and medical backpacks across armed formations.

Sport Shooters
The SPAS Gen. 2 tourniquet is an essential item that should be worn on the belt of every dynamic shooter at the range.

Medical Services
The tourniquet is a fundamental part of emergency medical teams' equipment, medical backpacks, and ambulances.

Farmers
Fieldwork involving machinery is a common cause of accidents leading to limb crush injuries or amputations. In such cases, the SPAS Gen. 2 tourniquet can be the only chance for survival while awaiting qualified medical assistance.

Tourists
The SPAS Gen. 2 tourniquet should be part of the gear for anyone embarking on trekking, long expeditions, or even day-long hikes on mountain trails. It can save lives while waiting for help to arrive.

Hunters
Wherever firearms are used, accidental gunshot wounds can occur. In such cases, the SPAS Gen. 2 tactical tourniquet is the first line of aid, increasing the victim's chances of survival.

Drivers
Just like bandages and dressings, the SPAS Gen. 2 tourniquet should be included in every car first aid kit. Every driver should know how to use it properly.
- Wrap the unfolded tourniquet around the injured limb. Thread the strap through the buckle's opening. Place the band 5–7 cm above the bleeding site. If the wound is not visible, apply the tourniquet as high as possible on the injured limb.
- Pull the strap very tightly so it fits snugly around the limb. Secure the hook-and-loop (Velcro) strap around the limb. The tourniquet should be tight enough that the tips of three fingers cannot be inserted between the strap and the limb.
- Twist the windlass until the bleeding stops and the distal pulse is no longer palpable.
- Place the windlass into the retaining clip. Check for continued bleeding and distal pulse. If bleeding persists or a pulse is still detectable, consider tightening further or applying a second tourniquet above the first.
- Tuck the strap between the clips above the windlass. Secure the windlass and strap with the white band, and use the included permanent marker to note the time of application. Prepare the casualty for transport.
